Monday, August 19th, 2002oof, log4j is brilliant. there are existing classes to allow your logging messages to go out to: jdbc database, socket outputs (say to nice (gui) log browsers, or just telnet clients), rolling files in many formats, xml, html tables (for small, short running tasks, perhaps?), smtp (when big errors occur), NTEventLogger, JMS. and all without changing any lines of code in your program.
